If you love a morning cup of coffee, you will need to have coffee mugs in your RV! Most trailer kitchen cabinets are deep and don’t have many shelves. This makes it difficult to safely store your coffee cups and takes up a lot of unnecessary space. These smart and creative RV mug storage ideas will help you utilize every inch of your camper.
When we first moved into our Fifth Wheel, we planned on having a coffee bar. We quickly realized that our dog needed her own space, so we needed to figure out how to store our coffee mugs. Luckily we haven’t broken any yet, but finding a space to keep them safe wasn’t easy.
How do you Store Coffee Cups in an RV?
There are two ways you can store your coffee mugs in your trailer:
- As Part of Your Decor
- Hidden in RV Kitchen Cabinets
You are probably looking for RV mug storage ideas because your kitchen cabinet shelves are really awkward. Whether you are wanting to make your coffee cups part of your decor or you want to maximize your cupboard space, these storage ideas will help you to make the most of this tiny space.
18 RV Mug Storage Idea
1. Stackable Mug Gadget
These are such an awesome way to use up all that extra space in your cabinets. This 6pk means you can store 12 coffee cups! I love that you can use them for different size mugs too. Every RV owner needs these to make more space in their RV kitchen cabinets!
2. Under Cabinet Cup Storage Hooks:
These are perfect for displaying your mugs or utilizing the awkwardly tall shelves in your RV kitchen. They can be placed on the bottom shelf of your cabinet, so your mugs are displayed below the cupboard. You can put it on one of the inside shelves, so you can store something flat below them – like plates!
One thing you need to keep in mind is that you can’t have heavy coffee mugs hanging off of here. If you travel often, you may want to invest in some lightweight, like metal mugs!
3. Wall Mug Rack
Hanging your mugs on the wall means you can save tons of cabinet space. If you have coffee cups you would like to display, this is the perfect mug storage for your RV.
Although this is really cute and will add a homey touch to your camper, you will need to find a place to store them while you are traveling. I use collapsable bins while we are moving and I haven’t had anything break (yet haha).
You can screw this into your RV wall, but keep in mind they are super thin. So, you don’t want any coffee cups that are super heavy!

4. Mug Shelf
If one of your walls is empty, you can put up a shelf to store your mugs on. There have been RVers that have created open-shelving to store their kitchenware. If you are renovating, this would be a great thing to install.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is that if your mugs are heavy, they may rip the shelf away from the wall. RVs are made with really thin wood panels, which isn’t great when supporting something hanging on the wall.
5. Mug Tree
If you are stationary and have counter space, you could do a cute little coffee bar with this mug tree! It takes up much less space and is a cute way to display your coffee cups. You also don’t have to worry about the weight of your mugs, which is a huge pro!
Again if you travel, this may not be the best option because you need to keep them secure while you are moving!
6. Display them next to your Coffee Maker
This isn’t necessarily storage per se, but if you have a couple of cute coffee mugs you can display them next to your coffee maker!
Especially if you don’t have (or need) more than this, it’s a cute way to make your space feel a little more homey.

What to do with Breakable Coffee Mugs When Traveling in an RV?
If you need to have a glass mug for your morning cup of Joe, you must store them properly when you are traveling. The worst feeling is getting to your destination only to realize your glass items have broken.
When we are traveling, I have collapsable bins that I put all my breakable things in. Then once we are parked, I store those bins under the couch! I do have a padded storage box for some of my favorite things, just to ensure they stay extra safe.
Here are the best ways to keep your coffee mugs safe when traveling:
1. Use a Coffee Cup Padded Storage Box
2. Get a pack of Collapsable Bins.
3. If you are leaving them in your cupboard, get an anti-slip liner.
4. Wrap them in your Dish Towels and put them in the sink.
